Breakfast at the Abbey Guest House

After a comfortable night’s sleep, breakfast is intended to be an enjoyable experience. Our freshly prepared full English breakfast uses locally sourced and Fair Trade products where possible. Guests are accommodated at large ‘family style’ tables where conversation usually flows and new friends are often made.

Breakfast service starts at 07.30 on weekdays and at 08.00 at weekends and Bank Holidays.

With sufficient advance notice, other dietary options are possible. We cater for Halal, Vegan, and Coeliac and have provided items such as goats’ milk, cheese platters and cold-meat platters.

Guests have a choice from an extensive range of cereals (including Gluten Free), freshly squeezed fruit juices, yoghurts, cordials and spreads (including local honey).

Self Service Breakfast

Guests requiring an early get-away are welcome to serve themselves from a wide range of non-cooked items by arrangement.

Drink at the Abbey Guest House

Abbey Guest House is not licensed to sell alcohol but is pleased to be able to provide a full range of non alcoholic beverages. We provide Fair Trade Coffee (including de-caf), hot chocolate and an extensive range of teas; Earl Grey, Camomile, Rooibos (red bush) and a range of fruit and herbal teas.

Evening meals at the Abbey Guest House

We do not provide evening meals but guests are welcome to bring in or order food for delivery to eat in the breakfast room. Alternatively guests are welcome to use the microwave to prepare their own meals. A fridge, all cutlery, microwavable crockery and paper napkins are provided specifically for this purpose.

Eating Places Closest to Abbey Guest House

The Boundary House ( is a ‘Surf & Turf Pub & Grill’. Now part of the ‘Greene King’ pub chain. The building was originally the home to Cecil Kimber, Managing Director (1935-1945) of the famous M.G. Car Company. The car park is at the rear of the premises off Appleford Drive.

The Spread Eagle ( is a traditional English pub where single or female guests will feel comfortable and most welcome. Booking in advance is often required due to the popularity. Ramped access into the pub is available from the car park at the rear.

The frequent bus services to Oxford, which continue to midnight, enable guests to enjoy the extensive choice in this famous University City.

Meat sausages & bacon are supplied to order by Eadles of Oxford.

Well Preserved of East Hanney ( is an award winning producer of jams and marmalades. They use locally available home-grown fruit for many of their items. These can also be purchased during your stay at Abbey Guest House.

Other produce such as honey is obtained locally in Abingdon whenever possible.
